The Financial District has lots of tall skyscrapers that create Singapore's skyline. Many of the tallest buildings of the city have competed to be the tallest skyscraper in Singapore, but it has resulted in the fact that three of the tallest skyscrapers in the city have been built to the maximum allowable height, which is 280 metres tall. The OUB Building, the UOB Building and the Republic Plaza are all reaching for the stars. The skyline reflects the city's ambitions and dreams. It also signifies the capability of its great citizens to realise their dreams. The Fullerton Singapore Hotel at the mouth of the river was built in the old style that was popular around the district. To the south of the city is Clifford Pier where one would have to go in order to take a cruise ship to one of the neighbouring islands.
There is a brilliant Food market that is known as Lau Pa Sat Festival Market and is a complete reconstruction of the first 1894 market that was held here. This venue is a great place to experience the culinary delicacies of the city and the prices are fabulous.
